You don't need to disconnect the brake line to take the rear wheel out, there should be enough slack if you undo the p-clip on the swing arm, then when you pull the wheel back remove the brake backplate and lay it on something of convenient height under the car.

The hub side had room but the brake line is on the opposite side so it was not possible without putting a pry bar between the tank and the swing arm and bending the tank. Not likely I would do that.
