Interesting on the Welsh language. Before the war my father taught physics, maths and latin at Cardigan High
He also coached the rugby teams. The predominant language spoken locally was welsh, he taught in English but with many mutterings from the class in welsh. He was in digs with a chap who was articled to a firm of solicitors who taught him welsh, when his friend judged him able, he called his classes to order in Welsh, never a murmur after that. Not bad for a Bristolian!!! War came along and he was put to work on radar development and never went back to teaching and remained in government service until he retired.
