Thanks folks. It occurred to me after I wrote the initial post and I found your comments after I had corrected it. "Bump stops" are normally to stop the suspension at maximum compression travel when you hit a bump. Doesn't the trad have those?
MMC fit that bit of rubber on the hoop as a bump stop , it connects with the diff.
Suspension dampers may or may not have bump stops inside them.
Rogers bump stops are a good option.
