John, thanks for the GoMoG link, it is an amazing resource. At least I remembered that there was a brand of shocker where the adjustment was damaged by it acting as an involuntary bump stop..even if I did not identify the correct brand...Duh..!
Thanks for posting the pic Roger. Given the amount of and shape of the rubber moulding on the shocker shaft, it seems to have potential to resist the internals of the shocker bottoming out and being damaged..
Could be relating to the angle the pic was taken at but it seems there may not be much "free"movement of the shocker before the rubber begins to compress.. interesting design, I wonder if once the car is fully assembled that the extra weight compresses the shocker shaft to the extent that no bare chrome is left exposed, and thus rubber also acts as a dust cover, and at some stage of compression becomes a bump stop..?
Seems all too simple to fit an unsuitable shocker in terms of it either being too short at max extension which may be less of a problem than being too long on max compression, thus risking internal damage..?
