There are a couple of methods of "touch" being determined on a screen, in addition there are several screen types within the LCD family all of which go to making the difference. Modern screens are considerably better as they are often IPS instead of TN and so have better angle and clarity.
There are thin films (like iPhone screen protectors) that can be laid on the LCD to create a matt non-reflective finish. You can get them for laptop screens and cut to size. I have done that for some screens in the past.

Fair point around the wireless vs wired. I have become so used to using the Apple Magsafe option in the other cars and around my desk etc that the ability to literally slap it onto the mount as I settle has become native. Sad but I tend to live on IT.
