Will alternative fuels become available which will work? .....I hope some of the replies are optimistic
I remain optimistic that alternative fuels will become readily available. Some day.
But why is it that apart from recycling old chip fat (or whatever it is they do), there just doesn't seem to be a mass movement towards researching alternative fuels for internal combustion engines ? I realise that the boffins are busy (quite rightly) seeking solutions to Covid, Cancer, Alzheimers and all the other things that keep me awake at night, but there must be a few of them that could produce something Nobel prize-winning for the automotive industry ?
There are probably lots of conspiracy theories, but the profits at e.g. Shell and BP have been boosted by a huge rebound in oil and natural gas prices following the invasion of Ukraine, so currently it behoves them to keep pumping the stuff (before it runs out) despite all the associated environmental impact.
And some day, as well as the apalling human cost, someone will calculate the environmental impact of the Russia/Ukraine war. But I am convinced that we are not scared enough of what Putin and his ilk are still capable of unleashing upon us all.
I predict that my days will be numbered before EV's are truly world-leaders, despite legislation pushing for their dominance. So on balance, I will continue to drive an I.C. tin-top, and take out the Mog and other classics on high days and holidays. While I can.
