In my youtube feed I stumbled on this video from Jay Emm on cars. This video features a very unfortunate crash with a BMW 840. I was struck by the similarity of this filmed BMW 840 crash and its subsequent analyses with the reported accidents with the early P6s and the subsequent discussions (in this thread).
This BMW is equipped with the same engine and gearbox as the P6. Difference is that it has a Limited Slip Differential. A further difference is of course that BMW 840 does have all kind of electronic stability control systems, which the early P6s lacked. ESC only came from MY 2023 onwards.
Despite having LSD this BMW gets out of control in a very similar way as some of the early P6s did.
If you do not want to watch the entire video, stat at 8:00.

As an aside, I was giving the understanding that BMW at the time did not want MMC to use an LSD on the P6, in view of the risk of 2 wheel slip. This BMW seems to display such slip.
