just catching up and find this sad news. I can only echo the good wishes of others and hope that you get power back on before too long. On that topic, what is owering your laptop/tablet/phone?

Let me know if there is any help that can be delivered from Salisbury and I really hope you will be able to join us all on the 30th.

Worry not about the Mog: unless there is water up to the dash the electics will be fine and the rest will dry out, like the house.

Old cars are best...as an acquaintance who lives, like Aeroman, beside the Thames and who was flooded a few years ago found out. Three of their 5 cars were caught. The classic E Type only needed deying out and new silencers. The SLK, just 6 months old, was a write-off because there is a lot of electronics on the floor under the carpets and under the seats. It isn't waterproof and cannot be replaced....!

We spent 8 years living close to the Rhine in NW Germany and when that floods you realise that there is nothing you can do. The village was bunded and a couple of times they put the flood boards in place. Back in the UK we bought a house on a hill, well over 200 feet above the nearest river and away from any hard surfaces. If we are flooded al Salisbury will be under 150 feet of water and millions will have been evacuated.
