Unfortunately Tge negligence of house bi.uilders is legendary. Many years ago my father sold some of his land from his Market Gardenig business to a developer & they built a small estate of houses. The drainage ditches that he used to clear out every back end we're about 8-9 feet deep and under heavy rains would often fill up close to the top. In their infinite wisdom the developer used an 18" drainage pipe to take the place of the ditches that were filled in. We were not surprised to hear of the flooding tgat occurred in that area.
Stewart, hope tge waters drained away and you can get a recovery plan under way. Having seen the trauma the families that have gone through when staying with us my only advice is to be strong and demanding with your insurers.
