Call me a cynic but could the EU decision to limit the Astra jab to under 65’s have anything to do with them being tardy in ordering and now facing a shortfall of the very same jab? Neat way of passing the buck me thinks?
definitely sour grapes in my view.
It's part of the attempt to discredit UK's fast vaccine rollout. According to Macron, his health secretary and that genius Ursula, UK took many more "risks" in approving the AZ jab early. EU was being safer and more rigorous. These folks don't address the elephant in the room, as EMA has reached the same conclusion as the MHRA about AZ vaccine.
UK vaccination data and ongoing analysis shows that AZ jab is proving effective in all age groups, but of course, this data can't be relied on, as we are taking on so much more "risks". Never mind that we have a world class reputation for science and scientific analysis and rigour.
It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.
Older folks are the ones who need the protection offered by vaccines, so various EU countries have decided not to let those groups have the AZ vaccine. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.
