I wanted the wider front frame, but that proved impossible. I wanted black wrapped wing beading and that was a fight. On the plus side, MMC were happy to fit alternative tyres, even though in the end it didn't work out due to lack of clearance. And there are a couple of flaws in the leather, one is a circular scar, the other is badly stretched leather on the drivers door cap. And the paintwork on the N/S bonnet shows a slight tide mark under the laqueur where the primer filler has sunk.

And the throttle response was stupidly hair trigger until the remap, and fuel economy was rubbish until the remap. BUT, nothing went wrong. Together that sounds like a nightmare and the overall experience could have been a bit better. I would do it again in an instant though. If they still made Series 1 Roadsters, I would find that hard to resist.

But the bottom line is that you expect some hitches along the way. That's how it is, unless you buy a pre built car with the bugs ironed out.

It's always been that way. A good few problems in first year, then reliable for a long time once sorted. I've had three new builds and two used ones. Used ones nicely sorted. New ones, trouble to start with.
