Sometimes a negative thing like a lock down is a good thing to re appreciate what you have Richard. Just like you described your real emotions when you rode her again a little bit the other day.

Thanks once more Heinz for your valued input, I think the key is the emotions aroused in the vehicle, my gut feeling is that the Plus Four will be very competent but characterless for me being used to a Plus 8 with all her foibles.
I revel in the fact that she demands your attention at all times, so you are actually driving (I resent talking to a passenger as it detracts from the experience), compare this to Heathers Polo GTI with 192bhp manual gearbox and automatic everything else which is a joy to drive but you can have a lapse of concentration and it will save you so nowhere near as engaging.
The Plus 8 bites you hard when you get it wrong, so perhaps it is I that is the problem not the Plus Four, I think it will be a lovely competent car for many people but as yet I am not ready to move onto my next romance, if ever.. but always with an open mind.
