You're right about the markup and wild price variation ... had the misfortune to lose the petrol cap off my mid '70s 4 seater (push and twist kind) ... looked on the web and first hit (Morgan aftermarket supplier) wanted $65 (plus shipping) ... did some measuring and it's identical to those used on many British motorcycles of the day ... you can get an identical top-quality cap for less than a quarter of that.
I doubt MMC involvement will trigger a gouging frenzy amongst the current aftermarket suppliers (or they'd be at it already) ... and if MMC start producing former 'in-house' parts currently unavailable, then all to the good.
