Routine servicing parts should be left to "normal" routes. MMC covering the special Morgan only parts that could be outsourced to suitable suppliers. How would this be done? If drawings are available then pretty straight forward under a licensing agreement. Hopefully not incurring big mark-ups other than sensible re-tooling, profit margins. Letting suppliers sell direct with commission to MMC added on is one option. Getting dealers/servicing garages involved too so keeping the knowledge of past car workings going, basically collaboration that benefits all parties.
We did this in the cigar factory where independent engineers made parts for us at significantly lower costs than OE machine suppliers. We also upgraded some components for better than OE.
You and I see this similarly. The Morgan Heritage company will source, license the manufacture and distribute the proper parts quality
parts at fair but profitable price..reversing the skyrocketing nonsense we have been seeing from many aftermarketeers, with Morgans
and other heritage marques.Morgan and other suppliers will be vetted (or even enhanced) by the best part legends we have had enjoyed
over the last 50 years.
Many are still around, merely quiet in this era of non-trad cars..We will also find parts that have gone missing at decent prices, or, at worst, find substitutes.
Personally, I would like this to expand to part areas the MMC has avoided in large measure until now, engines, gearboxes etc There
are also areas which could use improvement, like the domain of ali rads. for example, we have examined the new Chinese rads, and see
nothing wanted at 30% of the the previous existing prices, though all these dated designs, local and Asian, can be improved.
On forums, I often see the wrong components from earlier times recommended and create sadness and expediture. Dismaying.
Perhaps, Amazon would be a good model to follow.
Sourcing is more important than stocking. I would rather have a trusted sources supplying the right part in an extra 48 hours than an
absurdly priced wrong part instantly. You made me think of something. In time, parts could be accompanied by the method of installation or
a reference to one..
