I've just read through several articles on the rebrand and can't find one where anyone from Jaguar (or should that be jaGUar?) is saying they're doing it because it may scare, intimidate or offend young car buyers. What source did you use here?
I would say that it's a brave, maybe reckless, move and only time will tell if it's successful. To me it's a shame as I love the Jaguar image but I can't see owners of be-growlered Jaguars being ordered to take their original badges off.
