Back in the 80s and up to 2000s I met Sir Nick Scheele(r) , big, big in Ford America and then Head of Jaguar on a fairly regular basis. He loved my Morgans.
He was a no nonsense ‘gammon’ if you want to use that now derogatory language about people but I found him a delightful man with good business sense and the will to want to help others and students in particular. He used to bring prototypes from the factory and did once promise to find me a great e type. “I’m not going to use the Ford bins for my Jaguars” he told me.
I’m unsure if he would be happy with the new ad , turn in his grave no doubt. I’ve been around ad people for 50 years, worked in an agency, have friends, dead and alive who ran their own agencies. Advertising changes, products change, messages change, viewpoints change……just try to keep up with your aging kids is hard enough. It’s a minefield, you can be critical and everyone’s view is OK with me.
Yes , the old hairy growler cat is no more, just remember some of us like long legs, some shorter legs and some prefer in between…….it’s what makes us all different and life fun . Best MM
PS I’m just not a Shakshuka for breakfast type of guy. Prefer a full English (no black pud to be healthy) with eggs over easy but try getting that today at all the trendy breakfast places in South London. 4 off us older people had to sheepishly leave one restaurant recently, the staff having moved people to facilitate us, as we did not understand the breakfast menu and didn’t fancy anything !
