I am sorry Steve (SBM) but I do not think that mentioning the likely resale value, is as you say "an off the cuff" comment.
Whenever I have bought a vehicle, the possible resale value has always played some part in the ultimate decision as to whether to buy it or not.
I know you have a 2014 car and I am pleased to hear that it is now performing OK for you despite the several problems that I know you had earlier on.
However, I am sure that there are many owners of the earlier cars who feel the same as I do, i.e having been part of an unpaid development team for MMC, we will lose out substantially when we eventually come to sell our early M3W's.
