I was very impressed by the old Boxter ie the previous model, particularly the double clutch box and the auto blipping. It was a better auto when used that was than my traditional auto Merc. But I havent tried the 718 which reportedly performs even better but sounds worse.

We'll look forward to reports as time goes on

The points considered in respect of the F type in comparison to the Boxster were:

I've owned Jaguars in the past. Porsche ownership would be novel for me.

Luggage storage capacity is lower than Boxster. Given the use of the Plus4 was mainly for long distance and lengthy duration trips, this is a significant factor for me.

Vehicle length.

Fuel consumption. The Morgan covered about 38,000 miles from new over a four year period. The replacement is likely to cover more, so a factor.

As to the toys, I had planned to order a base model with leather seats only. However the spec of the car I have acquired was priced at about, or lower, than the budget for my initial plan, so I'll take the view that they are nice to have and even nicer as I have not exceeded my planned budget.

As to sound, coming new to the brand, my impression was it sounded marvellous. Changing from a Morgan with the design firmly planted in the past, I am keen to experience the latest in technological advances. Resistance to change seems to be endemic amongst sports car owners!

The model I have acquired also has the sports exhaust system that will generate a different sound. This is a £1500 odd extra, again that was included in the offer price.

As with the Morgan, it was the test drive of the car that did it for me.

I will report further as and when.

All the best.
