By the time hydrogen is being widely piped around the country, the technology for storing a decent amount in a car should have improved. And then we might see the resurrection of the ICE!

Don’t hold your breath! I’d say that due to the emissions from burning hydrogen in a normal ICE unless it is highly modified, it’s something which will not be acceptable. Fuel cells are another matter however.
