“Goat Paths” 😂. I nearly snorted my coffee out my nose!

Sheep country in the Dales, so “sheep paths” would be more appropriate. Indeed, there are regularly sheep on the roads.

Yes, the lanes can be narrow, but there’s usually a bit of verge every couple hundred meters or so we’re you can pull a couple wheels off the road. So there does end up being a bit of a game should you encounter oncoming traffic over who will pull over or reverse. People generally watch the road well ahead if visibility permits and one or the other will wait while the other pulls up and around. Traditionally this is acknowledged by the passer by with a smile and the lifting of a finger or three from the steering wheel, which is reciprocated by the waiting party.

Fortunately it’s not too busy most of the year and the quieter smaller dales like the ones I’ve pictured so far do have less traffic than the main three or four.

I was actually reflecting on this while out the other day, that it feels less like “driving” up here than it does like you’re “piloting” the Morgan.
