As I understand it, the recess in the rear of the vehicle is only available if the option of the bracket is ordered with a new car. Therefore, a retrofit is not or only very difficult possible. Whether the threaded holes for the bracket are present in the chassis if this option is not ordered I do not know.
The design of the backet has not been changed. My dealer has the orginal bracket only additionally on the outside stainless steel welded, as seen in the photo,

Now I had to look myself. The brackets on my PlusFour (one of the last MY 2022 produced) are only spot welded. I made an appointment today with my dealer to have it double SS welded as a precaution.


I just got a call from my dealer, the brackets are double SS welded now and I can pick her up! Drove in the 1990 4/4 in the meantime and gave here a good wash and polish. The 4/4 and PlusdFour are different worlds, although both with their own charms! love
