Well, I certainly applaud the MMC project to provide 'heritage' parts. But for us older guys (both car and human), i'm not sure it is going to change anything. I asked if they could supply the Girling rear wheel brake cylinders or shoes on my 1953 plus 4 - sadly not. They said: that was not something they could supply from stock - they were wating to see what requests came in so that they could then understand what items customers are finding difficult to source - they plan to log all enquiries so they can then prioritise by demand - that seems a rather lengthy process.
Hmm, I would have thought they should really know already what bits wear out, and which are hard to source. Oil seals, suspension components, brake cylinders, brake shoes, brake hoses, all the Lucas stuff, body and tub components, Gemmer/Cam gear steering boxes etc etc. I doubt they need to stock Ford/Triumph/Rover etc engine parts as they are widely available anyway.... just the Morgan specific stuff. In the end they suggested I ran up Melvyn.
(BTW if do need brake parts for a early 50s plus 4, they are off an Austin A40 and available from LongbridgeMotors).
What would really be helpful would be a translation table from the Morgan part number in the Parts book to the real number/supplier in the real world.
