Centa rubbers are breaking down after many miles according to reports on here, and a couple of Bevel box seizures reported but I haven't read of anyone being stranded through a transmission failure.
I don't know who else has read Peter Dron's excellent book on the M3W, but a lot of facts are in there about the car. Much more than pure speculative whimsy, anyway.
