Could it be that the risk to the kids at school is forced on you by gov but the risk to your friends is voluntary?
So what you're saying is that it's OK for the Gov to put me at serious risk, but I'm not allowed to make a personal decision about the slight risk posed to me by my friends? Probably the most dangerous aspect of our breakfast is the bike ride to and from the cafe. Two weeks ago, one of our number swapped his motorbike for a bicycle, and got smashed up by a car driver doing a sudden U turn in the road.....
For my living I make house visits. Most people's reaction when they ask me to call and I say I'm not doing house calls at the moment, is "but we are covid free here" which means that they interpret my action ( or lack of) as self preservation on my part. When I point out to them that I could infect them if I'd caught it yesterday and didn't know yet, that I'm sacrificing my income for their benefit, it comes as a surprise to them to look at it from that point of view. We all impose our world view on the information available I guess.

And that's a laudible position, but the vast majority of the population are not in a financial position to turn down work. I am also very aware that without us teachers going back into school, hundreds of thousands of people would not be able to return to the workplace, with catastrophic results for our economy. It is one of the reasons I decided to return to the 'petri dish' and not kick off about the danger to my health (although I still retain the right to moan about it
