I think I have a new Covid 19 symptom....hair loss. When I see and hear the statistics being bandied about my hands go to my head to pull my hair out. There is no consistency in data gathering, analysis, reporting. I call them Politicians numbers not statistics as a result. As test numbers increase so are positive results. By simply stating numbers of cases instead of rationalising them to numbers of tests then comparisons of now versus 3 months ago are false. It’s a bit like comparing apples to pears and potatoes. Even deaths due to Covid figures are nebulous based on people who test positive but die within 30 days of a non related cause were logged as Covid deaths. I did some work for Mori, the radio listening and ratings survey was one I did. We had strict rules about choice of interviewees so no bias was introduced. When I was doing research or evaluations as a Metallurgist great care was taken in design of tests and data gathering to get credible results. In my 4/4 I was getting about 35 mpg. In my Plus8 I get 30mpg. Why the difference? Both are Morgans after all. So, is my 4/4 the better car? Should I have been thrashing it to get it to match the Plus8? We are in for a long haul with Covid. It will not be completely eradicated unless it mutates to Covid 20. We are going to have to learn to live with it. At some stage a decision will need to be made on treating it like we do with Flu, Measles etc. A vaccine would help as with flu/MMR. It is going to take a strong will to accept it and live with it.
