Oh yes…
164 mile/four hours round trip yesterday to Bicester Heritage for a Morgan driving day out of the new Bicester place. Approximately five and half hours being trained by a racing driver how to go round the track there. Thus ten and half hours driving altogether.
OH MY LORD what a day….ranking up there with one of those “best ever” days.
Cannot speak highly enough of Shane my v v patient instructor. He was brilliant. I am not a great driver (ambition exceeds ability) but he got me going faster and faster over the course of the day, including using the paddles for most of the afternoon session. I learnt the limits of the new Plus Four (fortunately we used an MMC supplied car rather than Belle for all but about 6 laps). This is one amazing car and ruddy ruddy quick. Shane was engaging and so helpful and coached improvement bit by bit (he is development driver for MMC, current single seater racer, involved with Aston Martin amongst much more car stuff - absolutely fascinating guy to talk to all day long), really helped build my confidence ragging a Morgan at its limits (or at least as close as I could get!!!). All day was spent flat out but learning where you need to go slower in order to go quicker round the track… Bicester Heritage itself is a fantastic place to go-all the old RAF buildings are full of different companies with focus on old restored or maintained cars of all sorts n flavours-everywhere you looked there was something different that caught the eye.
I really could go on but…in summary I definitely 100% recommend this experience. I was and still am absolutely shattered but v v happy with the whole day. Wow wow wow!
