Had an interesting day today. It's been a busy week with TOTH last weekend, home to pack & a week away, home again & out today to the Vintage Motor Cycle Club's Founders Day rally up the road from me.
Went in with the bikes and not the cars, and moments later a chap and his wife parked next to me in their Guzzi engined Triking. We spent about twenty minutes comparing things back to back & even drove each others car around the field.
I do have a further oil leak, but as this in hand I can't explain any further as to the location or cause as yet, but it may be an excess of crankcase pressure. Either way, it's an S&S thing rather than a Malvern thing on the face of it.
Mr Triking was VERY smitten by just how well screwed together the M3W was compared to his, even likening the difference to a Merc/BMW feeling after driving a family saloon. He was very scathing of the quality of the Guzzi engine and drivetrain, even before I'd mentioned the M3W umm, 'foibles'..
He finished his car at the end of winter this year and estimates he's spend about £22k, which I think makes a hand built brand new M3W with a long guarantee seem almost good value, but that's my subjective opinion which sways dependent upon the amount of black gold in my drip tray..
