I have worked in industry for the last 48 years as a product development engineer and wherever I have worked the "Customer is King". Without customers you do not have a business.
We were not the normal interface with customers but if a customer query came in that the sales people could not answer it was passed to us to provide the correct answer. If this was the case, we would make the answer our top priority and then carry on with our normal tasks after the customer was satisfied.
