Not sure I understood BJ+pal's logic here - if foreign-born workers are employed by the NHS are they not paying NI and UK tax? Of course the £4.5K (or thereabouts) cost per year per taxpayer of the NHS is unlikely to be raised from a nurse on average wages... but that's a problem of general health system funding, not a problem for those willing to travel abroad to work...
