Rugby and soccer players are being tested.
Care workers are not.
Why ?
On tonight’s news were reports of soccer players being tested and returning to non contact training.
Pro 14 rugby tentatively restarting in August.
Why are there, admittedly small numbers, of sports people getting access to testing and not greater numbers of care workers who are in hands on contact with very vulnerable people? If there is a limit to available testing capacity who is saying yes to non essential people?
As for the 2 week self isolation of people entering the country.....why hasn’t this been enforced weeks ago? How many carriers who were asymptomatic have come in and accelerated and increased cases? Where will they be isolating? Surely it should be at the point of entry or at designated isolation centres? Allowing entrants to commute to a home address before isolating with spot checks only ( like curfew orders checked by police have been a normal condition for some offenders). One less than young couple were interviewed on arriving by plane. The plane was jam packed. So much for social distancing.
The stable doors were left open, never mind not bolted.
Meanwhile my area Dyfed Powys, has a clear lead in fines for lockdown transgression. Unbelievable when you see that it is a quite rural area with limited population concentrations. Some classic examples of long distance travelling for selfish and stupid reasons. Give some people an inch and they take a mile.
Typhoid Mary would be proud of them.
I am off outside satellite watching now.
