The bank bail out led to austerity that hugely affected people in ways that they did not deserve. Spending money that is more directly going to those suffering is a must under Covid conditions. The same for the help to people, businesses, charities as we exit the pandemic.
HS2....never been a fan of it as the justifications for it are tenuous to say the least. Covid has seeded a change in showing the ability to work from home can be expanded. So do we need a fast train for potentially unnecessary journeys?
The money is needed elsewhere to provide better value and use if nothing else. £100bn would be a good boost to keeping businesses afloat. Many will not be seen again.
