I have recently been changing car and seriously considered electric. The Tesla would suit me - I needed an estate / hatch but the Kia Niro fitted the bill and has a respectable range in the real world not far off the Tesla 3. In the end I decided it was still too early and the problem was longer trips. Electric cars are unarguable for local journeys within say a 100 mile radius and if you can charge at home overnight. . But over that distance and the infrastructure and range are still not there. People forget that the range drops significantly in winter and with motorway use. They also forget that you cant use the full range at any time - you cant walk to the filling station for a can of leccy! And given that the charge time for a leccy car is 30 times as long, mile for mile, as a diesel car the implication is that we need a significant multiple of charge points compared to the number of fuel pumps together with a space for the vehicle to stand. You will do better with a Tesla because Tesla have put in much more infrastructure but I still see problems coming.
As I said, it will be fascinating to hear how you do in real use and to see if I am over thinking / being timid or not. Keep us posted..
