Battery fires are almost impossible to extinguish.

The best vehicle fire I ever witnessed was a big turbo diesel in a truck. I don't know the primary cause, but it was running burning its sump oil, the engine boost rose and the RPM increased until the engine exploded and the tractor unit went up in flames...
