The VW was fun but the trip to JOG really showed up some things I didn't know. I had no idea the fueling could be charged at any price the supplier liked. It made me realise that the charging will be taxed etc. Very easily. So he paid more than the price of diesel.
Then there was how long it took. It made me realise that planning my route via charging points would drive me mad. How can it be efficient to have to drive away from your route to charge the car. Adding an hour to a journey would be seriously annoying for me. I like to drive straight to my destination. Long detours with the possibility of a non functioning charger at the end of the detour would stress me something rotten.
So I'm back to my initial thoughts.. I'd use one to commute if I commuted say, 50 miles a day. But for me it's a no go until the services are in place.
