So to finish up today's efforts I connected a two terminal switch to the under dash wiring I found last week, ('m still waiting for my Durite illuminated toggle switches), then turned on the headlights…. and finally hit the switch.

For the record, the auxiliary lights can only be switched on after you've turned the headlights on, but the circuit remains live no matter if you're in dip or full beam.
