Since this is a fairly detailed discussion of fog lights - could I extend to ask a more general question. I have a pair of Lucas auxiliary lights on my Plus 8 (1977). I'm trying to decide if they are fogs or spots:

This is the offside light:

My understanding was that fogs have the vertical ribbing on the lens front all the way across the lens - but spots don't.
Here the nearside light, has ribbing only in the centre of the lens, and the offside light is ribbed across the whole of the lens?
So are the spots or fogs? Is it usual to have different lens on offside and nearside?
