How can any owner (and why should he/she) be expected to inspect the weld on his brake pedal to ascertain whether or not it is safe to use before he takes the car on the road.
As we have said on other threads in the past concerning chassis cracks, a weld that is beginning to fail would not be detectable visually with the naked eye, even if the person carrying out the inspection really knew what they were doing.
For any car that has the M3W cut into the pedals, the only safe remedy is to replace the whole pedal box assembly.
Why would have MMC gone away from the earlier "cut out pedal" assemblies if they thought they were OK?
