I have seen the aftermath of a LARGE turbo diesel engine self destruct, apparently the norm may be for the turbo bearings to wear to the extent that oil leaks out of the bearing and into the intake tract which then acts as fuel and may cause the engine to accelerate out of control while using it`s lubricant as fuel until there is none left for it`s main task, at which stage chances are that the engine internals decide to come out for a breath of fresh air..?

Have also been involved where someone used a lighter brighten up a battery room in order to see the electrolyte level on large glass lead acid batteries that were over charging...! result, an acid bath lacerations and the loss of sight in one eye. Hydrogen can be explosive it seems...!
