AGA, makers of very traditional cookers based on about half a tonne of cast iron have gone through a "M3W Experience".

In 2010 they announced a new "Total Control" model that used complex electronics to make a power consumption of 27Kw work with a 30Amp socket.

It had not been sufficiently well tested and they started failing, we got to know the service engineers well. After about 18 months AGA issued a "rectification kit" which was almost a total re-build. They added a 10 year guarantee.

Since then it has performed as originally described. I understand that overseas AGA forced this on their distributors with a threat that if they didn't cooperate they would be sacked and threatened with legal action for bringing the good name of AGA into disrepute.

I think Morgan should learn from this.
