Howard, our bungalow (1700 sq ft) uses £1800 of electricity. We have ASHP heating, plus like you a log burner. It was built in mid 70’s and extended 2016. The single biggest thermal improvement was the loft insulation. Cost £650 for additional 250mm on top of original 100mm. We had lived here for a couple of years before installing insulation and immediately saw the heating cost drop at least 10-15%. More recently we have installed a MVHR ventilation system so hoping for a bit more saving. Not so cost effective I know but should help.
