It has always been the case that choice is a luxury reserved for the rich. As we become poorer, our choices become fewer.

Government policy reflects the wishes of society, and the 'polluter pays' principle reflects the prevailing mood that in general, people should not continue to pollute our environment - hence the tax restricting your choice. Seems fair enough to me.


Why do you contend that we will become poorer. That's never happened before, except may be in war time and it's aftermath. Since when does the government's actions reflect the wishes of society - that was debunked with the brexit referendum result.
Ev's, as has been discussed, are far from being pollution free. Lets hope that the owners of ev's have to pay for their disposal costs.
