I am sure MMC have a very clever lawyer lurking in the background advising them on what to do and what to say. Don't admit anything in public as this might result in litigation. They are probably hoping they can ride the storm and in a couple of years time, everybody would have forgotten their problems or sold the vehicle on. BMW have done the same on their N47 engine even though thousands of engines are failing due to timing chain issues. Its the way the industry works, unless the authorities become involved and force a recall.
I feel sorry for the owners who have problems, it reflects badly on the UK as well as MMC. Good luck in sorting it all out and hopefully you will enjoy the M3W, eventually.
