I and swmbo went to Hampshire in the Aero yesterday. I did not know where we were going, it was a surprise day out on our 33rd wedding anniversary. Sue gave directions as we travelled. 132 miles there, 25 cross country on some nice Devon/Somerset roads, about 80miles on dual carriageway cruising 70-80, and the rest to the first planned destination. A couple of cars took photos as we passed each other. I guessed our first destination as we got near. It was Newton Valance church where we got married all those years ago. The church was unlocked so we were able to go inside and reminis, a lovely small 13th century church, with Saxon origins. Then we sat on a bench outside opposite the pond and had a coffee from the flask we had taken and a cake. Then at 12:15 at swmbo orders off we went to destination 2, this time it was to the hostelry that used to be the Pig and Whistle on the way to East Meon, this was where we had our wedding reception. The place has been change a bit inside but still has the same feel. Surprise was my best man Chris and his wife were waiting for us to have lunch (I was also his best man 3 years after Sue and I got married). So a great lunch catching up and remembering when we were in our twenties.

After the 3rd surprise was to go to our best friends in Holybourne for tea. We left at 5:30 and returned via A31 and Kings Worthy, the A34 and then back onto the A303, getting home around 8:00.

We finished the day off with some bubbly and our favourite Peking Duck.

A lovely day, and the Aero was perfect, averaging 30mpg.
