It seems that if a certain political party gets into government we may all be time-warped back to the 70s/ early 80’s. Who can forget the wonders of that era, refuse piling up on the streets, green goddesses fighting fires, black outs and of course the cars!
To name but a few, we had Austin’s Maxi with a gearshift resembling a thin stick in a bucket of treacle, Minis that wouldn’t start if it was damp and my personal favourite the Vauxhall Chevette, wherein during the freezing winter of 81, I stepped outside to find the rear windows and headlamp lenses lying neatly on the floor broken beside the car. The glue used to fix them couldn’t take -17C!
At least for us M3W owners, the new 70’s era won’t be such a surprise, as in terms of our vehicle choice we never really left.
