One issue with keeping the trad in any form is that, because of the retention of the body shape, the CX can seamlessly trade on the history of the marque with the fundamental change of the underpinnings literally glossed over ... if the trad was still made then that would command the 'continuous heritage' cachet ... and that would leave the CX as a bit of a pastiche and blow its marketing niche to bits

Yep, agreed. I wonder how much of the production cost of a Morgan is actually down to the CX vs Trad chassis? The bodywork and running gear is going to be broadly comparable, and although the ally chassis is going to cost more, I'm not convinced it would be that much more.
Rather than building a Super 3 Trad, I wonder if it might not be a better bet to produce a more 'civilised' (ie with decent weather equipment) Super 3?
