Controversial view perhaps, but if it wasn’t for the CX platform, I wouldn’t have bought a Morgan. There are many reasons why but since this thread has gone far off topic - understandably in some ways - I thought I’d add my two pence. In my line of work I see a so many occasions in which so many people are rooted in the constraints of what was done before, anchored to the way it was always done and without the ability to break free of this to rapidly scale, to deliver new products or to disrupt new markets. I suspect the new Chief of Staff is there to help determine where those anchors are, to break those anchoring constraints and deliver new initiatives drive the strategic change objectives that Morgan must do to be successful. Quality improvements, new product launches, supplier management, whatever; the role of chief of staff is to be both a truth seeker and an enabler. Good luck to him. I’m excited about the future and this does nothing to dampen my spirits, far from it. But then I could well be proved wrong, so well before that comes true, a rant of sorts and a wish follows…

I could wax lyrical about the opportunities Morgan has to adopt all manner of engineering innovations and technology, but obviously I do so from a perch that does not need to worry about fundamental issues like supply chains and costs. Yet I suspect the reality is in order to meet regulations and growing expectations from a new era of customers, of which I’m very much one, they’ll have to do just that (at least some extent). That does not take away anything from the past or the role of the trad, far from it; Morgan’s history has underpinned what it is today and it has many, many fans, old and new. I for one - and I’m not alone based on conversations I’ve had with people my age (early 40s) and much younger - remain fascinated by this wonderful blend of old and new, of craft and of modern dynamics, of usability and compromises, of charm and efficiency. Maybe, just maybe, there’s enough of us globally to not just maintain this brand we all love, quirks and all, to not just support a static or diminishing community as it is today, but to sustainably progress and create a new chapter for the next “March of Progress” book in 3, 5, 10, and 20 years time.

So if anyone from Morgan is reading - please, please, please build Super Four. Make it dynamically superior to anything else you’ve done before, make it go down the road with the delicacy and fluidity of the A110, give it bothcharacter and polish that comes from a focus on development, make it raspy and rorty despite the need for GPF compliant exhausts, give it way better ratios and a great gearbox, make it modern and customisable, make it so the doors shut properly (I know I know - it’s called charm when they don’t), but most of all… make it a landmark car in your history. Make it celebrated, revered and recognisable -the future of Morgan is not in the past, it’s in the progress and in the future. So let’s make it.
