I think good old XF14AEF is finally reaching the "sorted" status, with two "work in progress" exceptions:
- rear sprocket - the "deceleration chirping noise" started last summer and has been getting steadily worse. As it was confirmed now with an inspection made at the dealer according to my specific request, because I already knew, from reading about it here, what that noise meant (you guys have no idea how valuable the information exchange within TM members is valuable for someone like me, pretty much alone in this southwest corner of Europe).
So ... a new sprocket (steel this time) will be requested under warranty and hopefully delivered and fitted soon.
- exhausts - I'm still waiting, and with the continuing use of my M3W (I won't make the mistake of having it parked for months while under warranty) ALL the exhausts previously used are by now either cracked or cracking. However, there's hope, because MMC has informed my dealer, after my "voicing" became louder and sterner, of the following (and I'll quote): "The latest exhaust silencers for the Brooklands M3W are still being manufactured to the latest specification, these are not due for delivery into the factory until week commencing 25th January."
So, MMC suggested a "temporary repair" of my exhausts, allowing me to keep on using my M3W. Something being done now, and that's why I took the opportunity to change the faulty header and wrap both headers.
Again, I have no idea what this "latest specification" might be, but I'll take and mount into the car whatever they send me. If it works, fine, if it doesn't, we will rewind and restart the process once again.
