I tend not to post much within the forum as one post leads to another, questions etc. and i end up sat here all day and night. But i am watching and follow with interest.
Please see my post from August 2015 this will assist in the answers below.
Re: Chassis upgrade kit for pre 2014 M3W #293908 - 04/08/15 06:32 PM
1) What has been done to ensure this doesn’t happen again in new vehicles? The 2014 model refined and addressed some of the concerns / changes needed - chassis - steering - bevel box noise - compensator system all updated on the 2014 model (as per my previous post no failures recorded on vehicles built after January 2014)
2) The guarantee Morgan will provide on the repair? (Upgrade sorry) MMC have not refused to assist any owner with either replacement chassis or the brace kit (we are still receiving claims for the brace kits now 4 years after it's release and 7 years after the cars were manufactured)
3) How many pre January 2014 await checking and or repair? This is more difficult to answer, obviously we sent letters via the DVLA database, but we didn't necessarily have all customer addresses for overseas owners, in that instant each dealer was informed of each vehicle (by chassis number) they had sold that required checking. Additionally a formal network bulletin was issued instructing dealers to check cars while in for the annual service.
4) Have ALL owners been notified? See Above
5) Cost to the owner and time frame to “upgrade” afflicted vehicles? No cost of parts or labour for chassis change or brace kit ,although many took advantage while the engine was out to have centa drive, or other upgrades fitted, so may have resulted in a cost.
6) Compensation to owners for the loss of use or “quiet enjoyment” of their vehicle? You really aren't expecting me to answer this question and open a whole another debate?
