I tend to visit Dublin about once every two months. We now have offices in BE and NL as the result of some great merger/purchases. If all is well I may be over more often.

The BE office is in Dilbeek to the west of Brussels, so a straight run on the A16-E40 making it simple. Which ever way I look at it driving is better.

Plane - 6-7 hours - very fixed schedule
Drive to LHR 90 mins
Park and bus to terminal 30 mins
Waste of life in terminal 60 mins (min)
Flight 60 mins
Exit Airport 30 mins
Local transport 120 mins

Car - 5 hours - very flexible
Home to Eurotunnel - 140 mins
Tunnel 35 mins as you roll up and on first one
Tunnel to Dilbeek - 150 mins
5 hours but I can leave almost anytime, make (careful) calls on the journey, divert for shopping, stop for dinner.

If the historic 45p/mile was corrected it would still work out cheaper for the business and they would get more hours out of me

I cannot really use the train. Whilst the Lon-Pad to Brussels is fast the rubbish to get to it from deep Hampshire to WAT to Pad adds hours. Also the evening trains from WAT to my town are so infrequent and stop quite early so the return would end up being next day or I would have to leave late morning to be home for 9pm!

If I could drive to Dublin in a similar manner I would but the ferry is wrongly placed for that to be effective.

So if I drive I make a lot of peoples days happier including mine. Win.

All I need to do is work out how I can cross charge Morgan for all the free advertising I provide for them as I rumble along ?

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
