If we cann't air our personal views certain subjects, either seriouly or 'tongue in cheek' than what is the purpose of remaining a contributor ?
I would agree with this wholeheartedly.
The only subject I have ever asked people to be considerate over is the 'old' 'Trad vs Aero 8' debate. By 'considerate' what I mean is: while I'm happy for people to discuss the pros and cons of each model, I just grew VERY tired of people drawing lines in the sand and slagging the Aero 8 off. This comment isn't directed at one person but imho, is something that all people with immovable views on the Aero 8 can be guilty of. Healthy debate – fine! Constantly using the Aero 8 as an automotive punching bag because of age old stereotypes and biases – not acceptable! And, with this said, the same would be said if I felt someone was constantly bashing any Morgan (I realise Porsche 911s are fair game!)
Nevertheless, I am pleased to say that this has been respected by all and therefore, I have had no reason for complaint since. As I said when I started the site – to me a Morgan is a Morgan is a Morgan. I don’t see one car as better or worse, only different and chosen at different times for different reasons.
Therefore, as far as I am concerned, as long as comments are not slanderous, or arguments become personal, I have no reason to stop healthy debate.
Robert, as you said, without that what is left of a discussion group?
